You don't need the gasket. It will actually seal better without it, that's part of what that metal ring is for in the Tial. The bolt can be had at any hardware store. Just make sure you get a grade that will handle high heat.

well, i'm in the process of piecing my turbo kit and don't have any of the bolts. i went to every autoparts store around my 'hood, home depot, lowes etc and all they have are those cheap zinc plated steel bolts. you guys know where else i might find some good bolts? was thinking about ss bolts but they only come in the philips head and the allen wrench and are not metric. arrrgh, so frustated, can find a few simple bolts....

theory48,
the bolt i'm talking about are allen head as well. in fact they accept a 1/4" allen wrench. the might also take 6mm but the 6mm i was trying to use was totally messed up. if that helps at all.

Get the turbonetics gasket if you really want one. It has a metal ring on the inside. Call Ben at importparts.com.

I believe the bolt you will need is a 10mm bolt with 1.25 thread. Also get it about 2 inches long. I had to get 2 bolts too.

yea, i got the size down but everything i found were just zinc plated regular grade steel. i'm looking for some stainless ones. i heard these are rated, grade "g5" or something and are the strongest you can get. i was thinking about just getting the regular ones from home depot but while i was trying em on to see if they fit, and customers/employees started looking at me and telling me that the bolts will get really hot and just snap off like a twig.

You can also use Loctite or use a lock washer and nut or a lock nut to prevent the bolt from backing out due to vibration.

I didnt like using those allen bolts...they were too hard to get to and regular bolts i had trouble getting a socket over. I went and bought me some GM metric water pump studs from Autozone and Oreilys and used these for my wastegate and downpipe.

Anyone know the size of the bolts that attach the downpipe to the turbo? I know it's a 13mm head but what size threads?

yea, its 10mm 1.25 pitch. 30mm length hope that helps and remember to get the stainless ones not the zinc plated steel ones. still no luck on finding the ss bolts.
