Default need help!!! civic ex gauge cluster

professional or self experience would be awesome.

well i have a 96 civic hatch dx and i bought a 97 ex gauge cluster with tach. i had my friend help me out with it and we put the new one in and the speedo and rpm worked fine but the temp and fuel not so much. right when i started the car the fuel and temp rose alllll the way up for some reason, so my friend is stupid and tried taking off the needles and in doing so he broke my temp needle clear off. so now im thinknig about getting the fuel/temp gague replaced, but why did they do that in the first place? is it worth buying another one or is my whole cluster fed?

please help, im kinda ocd on my car and im freaking!!!

btw, its a 5 speed

I had the same problem, i just bought the replacement temp/fuel gauge from
http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/ . Got it, put it in, and BAM! working cluster and all.

*the problem with mine was the numbnut who sold it to me, tightened the screw in the back to hard so it broke the copper wires behind the gauges...

to make sure its a cluster problem, borrow a friend's cluster and see if the temp and fuel goes up quickly or not. my problem was right when i started the car or put the key on "on" the temperature gauge would jump up to "H" even though car was not warmed up.

good luck
