Default Big turbo vs Smal turbo

Hi, Im planning on turboing my car but was wondering if a bigger turbo at 9 psi would produce more power then a small turbo at 9 psi. Thanks in advance

Short answer, yes.

You should base your goals and setup around a power level, not PSI.

Yes it will but you are sacrificing streetability, The smaller will spool up faster and provide more midrange. It really helps to ride in a honda built for top-end and one built for midrange. They are two different animals, but the midrange is more streetable.

If you're new to Forced Induction, this may be a relevant question; however, this topic has been covered in depth many times. If you read the FAQ at the top of the forum, that should answer this and most of the other questions you may have. Let me know if you need any other help or advice. We're here to help

The best thing you could do at this point to help yourself out is to give us an idea of your setup (engine, chassis, and budget) then your power goals and uses for the car. We will be able to help you out better after knowing that information.

Ya, I read that turbo FAQs up top and helped me out alot. That was just a question I didnt understand.

Now since I have found out for my self the question I wanted to know here is my real question.

I will be picking up a 92' Integra GSR with 142k miles, and right now I have a LS-Vtec swap in my DB7, but dont feel like turboing that because I have High comp pistons which would be bad if I turbo.

So now, I am wondering what is the safest way to boost the DB2 without blowing it up. I'd also like to leave the internals stock.

this might be not quite what your looking for but

my friend joe (fmfkid250 on here) went 11.87 on bfg's on a stock ls motor on 10lbs.

he was running a turbonetics 60-1 which compared to my to4b had much more lag. he attributes his good times at the track coming easier due to it having some lag and not at full boost so quickly so he was getting less wheelspin. it wasnt that bad on the street either. just something to think about. but like people are saying a good midsized turbo is awesome on the street.

Are you referring to after-market high CR pistons in your db7? If so, how high and are they cast/forged?

one thing to consider to is that a small turbo might go in to boost when you don't want it to.

When I had a t3 .48a/r .60 comp on my b16 it was going in to boost when climbing hills, and I also had over heating issue. The over heating may have been the downpipes/exaust fault but I think the small turbo was part ot the blame.

That turbo struggled on the topend aswell. When I switch to a .63 a/r t3/t04e 57 trim(honda bandwagon turbo) it was like night and day.

Much better crusing out of boost also.
