For a MINT 1987 White Civic Si Hatch w/ black interior, 200k miles and no issues?

I have a friend that is considering selling his and I wanted to get a feel of what it might go for in the right market

 

My guess would be anywhere from$1500 to $2500 depending on location and also buyer. Got any pics of the car?

 

I don't but I might try to take some. Also has recently had all major services, timing belt/water pump/radiator/coolant/hoses/tranny fluid/oil change/alignment.

 

You should really look for a collector because most of the time people who are looking for cheap modes of transport get those cars IMO. Not hating or anything because I love those cars but I'm just being honest. Maybe even tell your friend to hold onto it for a while maybe in the garage or storage and in the future it may be worth a considerable amount more

 

any rust? check panhard mount, front jack points etc.. otherwise $1500 should be sufficient.

Yea I'd say my EA-T knowledge is well above average, I have wanted one myself at times over the last several years and thus I have ammased quite the collection of helms manuals lol. I was just wondering if REAL WORLD would still have any sort of interest in this car. I was thinking more like $2500-3000 considering it's an original AZ car w/ absolutely zero rust or problems and it's white w/ good paint/good interior etc. It literally needs no work.

On the other hand I know most RPR type of people are extreme cheap asses and don't want to pay for anything But I know that true enthusiasts will pay for something nice and rare.

$1500 price range for right now though sounds about right

 

I paid $750 for my 87 Civic Si with the same millage. No rust, all factory options and very very clean! I just got a really good deal cause I know they are worth alot more than that. I want a white one!

might be worth $2500 if it didnt have 200K miles on it. I paid $2500 for my very near mint 100% rust free 1985 CRX Si with 120K orig miles. $1500 is about right, but possibly $2000 if he finds someone that really wants it bad.

 

Also, I must laugh at the RPR dig. Say what you want about rarirty, condition , whatever.

THE MARKET is what determines somethings value. Not its age, not its rarirty, not its condition. Anything is worth ONLY what someone is willing to pay.

So what type of person is typically in the market for a middle-aged Honda? young people (no money), or older people that are enthusiasts or just reminiscent of one of thier former cars. The overwhelming majority will be the younger crowd looking to spend very little on the car itself, and even less on items to modify it. This incontrovertible fact will drive market prices down, because most of the people who do own, or want to own, these cars DONT HAVE ANY MONEY.

 

i think it depends on what part of the country its in.if u brought that car to NY it would be super rare and worth 2500 all day. out there rust free cars are everywhere so the price would go way down. i can't wait to go out west and bring home a cheap !g chassis

yes, but it was kept clean and in a garage. i saw your car. and you paid about a fair price, but like i said with this hatch, 1500 isn't lowballing the guy. maybe 2grand at most, but definately not 2500. i'd still have to see pictures, too.

I am in agreeance with you. $1500-$2000 is a totally fair price.

IDK though, ive seen really clean 1G's fetching pretty high prices on Ebay. Pictures of the car would definitely be good. I just cant see someone willing to pay over 2K for a 200K mile car. Even if its in great shape and runs awesome now, 200K miles is a lot and it could blow up at any time.

I know in RPR, that such car would fetch nowhere NEAR $2000. I think PRP is somewhat responsible for the relatively low prices of these 84-87 civics. They themselves tend to underestimate THEIR cars. In a way, that's good for them. Because they can pick up cars they love for cheaps. That's exactly the reason why they don't expect the prices of these cars to hike anytime soon.

Also, majority of these cars are bought for motorsports, dd, fun projects, and RARELY for investment purposes. They're still on the southside of borderline classics. It'll be a while till they cross that line, if ever.

On the contrary, I know the 2g MR2 community is WAY too optimistic about the value of their cars which in turn will end up hurting their community in one way or the other. So, I think it's a balancing act. You can't have your cars selling for a fortune in public and yet expect to pick up parts or cars for cheap.

first off, speak english. normally it doesn't annoy me, but good god i keep coming up on your posts.

and i'd like to see a picture of your "4g" worth CRX.

yes, if you "were to waited" like 5 more years.

and there's no way you could have sold the car to a hardcore Civic/CRX community member. because they always know ways to get those cars cheaper and rather fix one up than pay a premium for a clean example.
