Default Most HP you can make with a .63 t3 turbine w/ stage 1 wheel?

Simple question, apparently there are many 650whp Honda's using this turbine.

I think you may be mistaken. I could understand a t3/t67 H.O. that's using a <U>stg3</U>/.82 a/r turbine combo make 650whp on a spare-no-expenses motor, but to do it with a <U>stg1</U>... You might get 350whp iwth the right motor/compressor/housing combo, but that's really pushing it.

The problem is that turbines flowrates ramp up similar to how compressors do - a tiny 1/8" larger inducer can get you an extra 100whp in some cases. The stg1 is ~2.3", while the stg3 is ~2.55". There's also the way aftermarket fins fold over less, giving yet less restriction.

Links to any? Stage 1 Turbine wheels are generally found on turbos maxing around 250-300hp. Stage 3 Turbine Wheels, typically a max of around 500whp. Stage 5 turbine wheels are maxing 650+.

An admin on another site told me that people make 650whp using a t3 turbine with a stage1 wheel and a .63 housing. It struck me as odd.

Yeah, as above, I do'nt really see how a stage I wheel could support that much power, barring n2o or loudmouth usage of course. IMO, small turbine wheels should be matched to small comp wheels and vice versa. It's seemingly much better to regulate flow/spool characteristics with the housing.

Shane, don't let that guy give you advice on changing oil. Not that you don't already know as much.

I'd have to say I've seen (Dynojet) graphs of an ITR with a .60/.63 OEM T3 that has the stage 1 turbine wheel make 330 whp in the 18-19 psi range. Like these other guys have already said, you could get 350 or a bit more with a slightly bigger compressor wheel and the right choice in dyno.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by nowtype &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Links to any? I sprayed a 100 shot of nitrous across a stage 5 wheel with .63 housing, it started choking in the low 600 range and the car went full rich since the engine couldn't breathe enough air to burn the fuel provided by the injectors and nitrous jet. If I'd had the time I could have set up secondary mappings to pull fuel past 7500 rpms (where it went rich) when the nitrous was flowing and might have hit 650+. Probably wouldn't have been worth the time it took, though.

Various dynos reading as they do, I could see 590-640 from that turbine. With the bigger .82 AR turbine you get the 650+ stuff. However, on that note, with the smaller stage 1 turbine wheel you will find housing AR means a lot less.

Throw a 4" DP/exhaust, huge volume intake/exhaust manifold, bigger compressor wheel, and a big WG 650whp becomes pretty possible. A few people on here have accomplished said task via similar methods. I was just giving approximate maxes.
