My buddy just put an obx lsd in his ys1 and now his passenger axle won't turn at all. Drivers side no problem. Any ideas? Autozone axles B16 with a ys1 cable tranny.

 

Who installed the LSD ?

If the axle will not turn with the tranny in neutral. There has to be something wrong in the assembly of the LSD.

Did you test it before you installed the tranny ?

 

Get the CV joint looked at soon. If the CV joint breaks, you won't be driving at all.

Are you hearing some clicking sound? it is the symptoms of a damaged CV joint.

Most places replace the entire CV shaft as it is just as cheap (or sometimes cheaper) than attempting to repair the joint.

He said it won't turn at all. I figured something in the diff is not right and locking the axle.

 

Yeah it is very strange that the obx install and the non turning axle happened at the same time. I assume he never drove it after the install, but started it and put it in gear? Or did he find it not turning before while still jacked up. If the latter is the case, why didn't he just start the reverse process. Get the axle off and inspect it, rotate the other wheel and see if it turns the gear on the passenger side inside the trans. Process of elimination. gl

 

the car doesn't have a running motor in it right now. He hasn't driven it at all. I suppose it's a good possibility the LSD is locked up because he installed it, and has never done a LSD install before.
