Just recently bought one for about $29 plus change. It came with the adapter for long plug threads. It may not be 100% acurate, but the main thing you are looking for is not the PSI, it's the variation between cylinders. For casual use it's just fine. Just my $.02.
You can find them on ebay or at your local auto parts store. I would get a somewhat good one. Its not like its a leak down tester, a good one of those would cost some money.

Some of the ones out there only go up to 240-260, some go higher. Being someone with high compression, I would say look for a 300+ gauge. At 12.38:1 compression, I bottom the gauge out at 300 psi...

i found two so far that i am considering. they both have identical specs and features, the only difference being that the one from sears has a black face and the one from summitracing has a white face. both go up to 300, with the sears going for 24.99 and the summit on going for 21.99. i'll prob end up with the one from sears as i can go get it in one day and i wont have to pay s&h fees.
i think 300 should be more than enough on my sohc rite? i doubt i'll need a tester that read that hi
if anyone could recommend any other low priced brands that work well, feel free to let me kno
thanks again
