Default General Question About Main Bearings - engine problems, help!!!

i searched.
car has been making sounds (1998 base prelude h22a4), dealer diagnosed it as having noisy main bearings and that ill need a new engine soon. so my question is what can i do? can i replace just the block, or just certain parts of the engine to avoid having to buy a new H22? if not the block, what is the least i can do to fix this - i know/been told that you cant rebuild the main bearings or anything to that nature. so help me out, in a rough spot, car still driving but its gonna be toast soon

ALSO
flashing oil light, low oil pressure (i figured) according to the dealer. what steps can i take to try to fix this before having to get a new oil pump put in? Thanks

The flashing oil light can be due to your excessive bearing clearances.

However, you can just do a rebuild, get the crank measured, and use undersize bearings which will be cheaper than buying a new motor, but if your main's are about to go out then most likely your motor is weared down. So your best bet i would say is swap the motor as the tech at the dealer said.

usually can find a nice engine for 1000 or under and find someone local to do it for $500 or less.. Looking at about 1500 installed for a nice engine maybe find a better deal...
