Default Oil drain line too long on edelbrock kit?

I have had my edelbrock kit for my d16y8 for about a year. I have always had trouble with oil being sucked back into the engine from not draining back into the pan. I have looked into making my own line but the flange for the edelbrock kit is unique. Is there a way to cut the existing line and reswage the fitting so it is shorter? Here is a link to what I'm talking about http://www.edelbrock.com/sport...g.jpg

Bump if you read.

Depending on the end fittings they use, you will be able to shorten it. I would take the drain off and figure out the connections that will be needed and go from there.
