hey all!
I have a d16z6 and installed a compitition clutch. Several people have told me that I have a bad pressure plate but I'm skeptical as this almost never happens. Anyway how do I check to make sure I'm not over throwing the clutch?

This is what the pros at compitition clutch asked:
"Have you pulled the adjustment back to see if maybe its overthrowing the clutch"

and I'm not entirely sure what he is talking about. Please explain or even better, if you have a picture of what he is asking about pleaseeeeee post!

wait whats wrong with your clutch? Why do they say you have a bad pressure plate?

 

my symptoms are.

car goes into gear while the engine isnt running. but as soon as the car is running and i attempt to put it into gear i cant. everything else has been checked synchros were good before my clutch spring popped so was everything else but i replaced everything i could and still i keep having the same problem. and yes my system is bled of all air. the guy at competition clutch told me to check this out.

 

Mess with the clutch adjustment.

Crawl under your dash and find your clutch pedal. Follow it back and you'll see a 12mm nut and a rod going into the master cylinder thru the firewall.

Loosen that jam nut, adjust the rod. See if it gets any better.

If it doesn't, you may still have air in your system (i know you said you bled it, but make sure again). Or there is an internal or external leak in your clutch's hydraulic system. Check for a leaky line from not re-tightening it properly, or a leaky slave cylinder from the time your friend pushed the clutch in and the slave cylinder wasn't attatched and the piston popped out and you were like "Mike, WTF?".

 

sweet i know exactly what your talking about im gonna get under the dash and fiddle with that m f'er tomarrow and hopefully ill be able to drive my car for the first time in 2 months

 

I played with it for hours today and im right where I was 6 weeks ago.

here with no pedal

full pedal

and its adjusted at its furthest most point and im only getting that limited travel

 

What did you tq. the pressure plate bolts to?

 

what brand of clutch is this? shitty pressure plates can bend/break and cause all kinds of damage

 

torqued to 22ftlbs (honda spec). its a 2100 series competition clutch (my tuner recommened it)

any thoughts at all?

Stock is 18-19ftlbs. You more then likely over torqued the pressure plate. Take off the trans and back it out a little.

 

You've check absolutely everything from Master Slave to Clutch master cylinder for any leaks? If you already have done all that I would think the problem would be how your clutch was installed.
