Acura is giving me a new motor
I took my 2000 FBP #136 in for a slight knock on start up, and 23 days later service rep says that he sent for a new short block. There is damage to two rod bearings and one main bearing. The only question i have is where does this new b18c5 come from, and what is the estimated amount of time for them to receive it.
Any help would be appreciated. Thankyou. one last thing always save your receipts from your oil changes, they saved my ***

Um...some people have been saying that ITR short blocks are backordered for months...
And why would you need the receipts from your oil changes? All of the services are stored in Acura's computer system...

I needed that receipts because my dealership is 40 minutes away, so i get oil changed at another service station. What will acura do for me if they are backordered
they'll probably get you a rental foci or camry

If you leave your car at the dealership, INSIST that they store it inside over night. You don't want to wait 2 months for a shortblock to arrive if your car is in pieces when it finally gets there...
The car has been stored inside, but if something happens to it, i am real sure i will come out the winner. Is there anyone that had similar situation, so i know how long the wait will be. Thanks

I thought it was not necessary to keep your receipts of the oil changes done to the car to get warranty work at the dealer. I believe I read in the Acura manual a while back, that the dealer can not deny you warranty labor because you dont have receipts. I dont have the manual with me but can anyone confirm this?
When they replaced my short block, I was told it was on the boat over and would take a little over a week to get to the warehouse. Mine has B18C5 stamped on the new short block with orange paint on it.
damn this is really makin me suspicious of acura....when they gave me my new block, i was talking to them everyday about what was going on and they didnt mention anything about having trouble getting a block and when i got it back no paint no engine code nothing....nobody else has a blank engine block???
Hey ITR21, The wife and i were thinking of getting away from the usual grind(kids, work) for a couple of days. We were considering toronto for a long weekend. Would you recomend it over niagara falls. Looking for night life, casino, good food, type of fun. Thanks for any help
for a slight knock on start up
Mine has somewhat of a knock sound to it at idle that gets louder when the AC cuts on....
EagleR, When this first started i called baierl, and explained what the car was doing. The service rep treated me like i was some type of moron. I did not get to even explain to him what the car was doing, and he was telling that i probably forgot to check the oil, and since it was a type r i was beating on it. I ended the conversation right there. Then the guy from baierl calls my wife, who at the time did not know the car was down, and gives her a hard time. I called Acura of Boardman (actually a little closer than wexford) and explained to there service rep what the car was doing, and this gentlemen told me that i was probably some young kid that has stickers and loud exhaust, and bald tires on my car. He also stated that because it was a type R that the warranty does not cover much because its a racecar. I ended that conversation also, and went to the next person in command, and everything has been great. The only thing is that whole process has takin way to long. I guess i did not realize how much i like the car.
jond I would first like to mention that i have been around race motors for some time. Not tooting my own horn here, but i told the service rep that i thought that the bearings on #4 cyclinder side were going bad. The car had a knock while running that was very faint, you could only hear it when you let off the gas. The knock on start up was very loud, and maybe lasted 2 seconds ( then oil pressure was up). I am not sure if you have seen a so called spun bearing, but these were somewhat worn to the copper, but not worn in layers. I think it would have been great if acura would have put a true psi oil guage in the car. If this was a V8 i probably would have a rod pushing through the side of the block.
