Default Warrenty work please help?

all right I got my car worked on at the acura dealership a couple of weeks ago. I broke my shift linkage inside the the tranny. well anyway I have been fighting with acura about my warrenty becuase since the last time it was fixed they put a final drive in and a lighweight flywheel for Me. It was fixed three thousand miles ago by the way before I broke the shift linkage. Well anyway my question is if anyone has had A dealership still do warrenty work to there car when these parts are in the car? If they had a dealership do warrenty work with these parts what dealer and do they still have a warrenty. I would appreacite if you guys could get my a reference beuase I know there is a dealer that has did warrenty work with these mods please post.

There is no correlation between a jdm fd, aftermarket clutch or flywheel and the failure of the shift rod. They are entirely independant. In order for the dealership not deny a warranty claim they must prove that the modifications were they cause of the failure. Obviously they can't do this. Don't let them say that the clutch, flywheel, and jdm fd (a Honda part found in the very same trans housing in Japan) caused your shift rod to break, because that's bullshit.

What options does he have if Acura ignores him, and refuses to offer any reasonable explanation as to how his modifications caused the failure? Isn't SEMA a regulator of this kind of thing? Help this guy out...

When I had my short block swaped by Acura, they fucked up the shift linkage/changer inside the tranny. Even thou it was not like that when i brought them the car, they would not work on the tranny cause I swaped the FD. They had the car for 2 months and I did not feel like arguing anymore and ended up calling down the FL we-todds to drop my tranny for the 5th time

Ed,

I think this is what you're looking for. It covers the legalities and also how warranty determinations are made and the appeal process.

Hmm not the first time I see... was it the change holder assy? Jake actually snapped the shift rod in half

Ken, thanks that should be very helpful.

Yep. The 3 bolts that hold the assy to the case came loose. We know for a fact that we torqued them the last time we had the tranny apart. What we think happened was when they hammered the spring pin out of the linkage, it somehow broke the bolts loose. Thank gawd we fixed it when we did, as the bolts were half way out. I drove for about a month with them loose, it would have totaly sucked *** had they come completely out.
