Default 92-95 Civic Main Relay problem possibly?

So a friend of mine has a 93 Civic Sedan Auto and for a few days it randomly shuts off. If he waits a bit the car will turn back on like nothing happened usually.

Yesterday as he was backing out of his driveway, the car shut off and all the dash lights and usual lights that stay on when the key is in the ignition turned off.

I have a feeling it might be the main relay, does anyone else agree/disagree?

He says he might get one from the junkyard and swap it out before he gets a new one from Honda.

Turn the car on, if you can hear the pump, then its not the main relay. If you cannot hear the pump when you try to turn the car on, then you know its the relay.

the main relay has two parts, fuel pump and injector power (more than just injectors but that's the main thing)
if only one side is bad the fuel pump will still prime, but the injectors will not get power.

pull the main relay, pull the cover off, reflow the solder joints, reinstall cover and main relay in car.
Free and will hold for another 10 years.

the problem could also be the ignition switch, dirty or bad connection to a main fuse in either fuse box, or a lot of other things. It all depends on what looses power and when it happens.

The whole ignition switch and harness has been replaced already, he has a new distributor and ignitor too. I will pass this info onto him, thanks for your input sir!
