Default boosting a stock bottom h22?

want to see if you who have boosted or are boosting a stock bottom h22 would share your experiences?
what was your setup?
Is it worth it with low boost?

my experience turned sour quick. Their time bombs without a timer. Just like anything else tho, some people have great luck and others dont.

As with all stock block dual cam Hondas, if you keep them in the ~300whp range and get a good tune, you should be fine. My 315whp stock block lasted 2 years before a spun bearing (due to lack of oil because of an unrelated oil leak) stopped it in its tracks.

What kind of driving did you do? Were you easy on it or what?

no issues... as long as the ringlands dont get trashed by detonation (read tuning) youll be ok.

I beat the living hell out of that car on a daily basis. It saw full boost at least once or twice every time i drove it. I also tracked it twice.

The stock cams in the h22s are actually very decent. You won't find much increase when you boost as compared to other upgrades. If you don't have the cams already, hold off or invest elsewhere.

Very true. Jason at Rage performance (now Whitfield Racing) was running stock cams on his 725whp H22 turbo. That must say something.

I was running 6psi on stock block at 250whp. Ran great up until I boosted in 5th gear and blew my ringlands. The ringlands on the H22 pistons are the weakest part of the motor when it comes to boost. Hope that helps.

We have done a few and they held up great. 9-10 psi and around 300whp. One of them I took apart to have sleeved and get a bigger turbo and it still looked brand new inside. I think the h22 is built well with strong parts from the factory. No reason for a well tuned and maintained engine to last a long time making good power.

Been running 7 psi for about 2 years now, ~30k miles, driven fairly hard, street tuned myself. I haven't dynoed it yet, but I expect it would look very similar to blake's graph above. The key is tuning. With a good tune, you can get a little over 300hp reliably on the stock block. Don't cheap out on the tuning components, that means get the right injectors, a wideband, and a tuneable ECU, and you will be fine.

nice ... what kit and tune are you running?

what would be a good cheap kit to start out with on low boost and still make around 300whp? If any...
