Default Rear brake drum clicking

Car is 88 crx si. I swappd on new rear drums onto old pads, and now have a clicking when braking coming from the left side drum. On this side I started to change the shoes, but decided I wont waste my time since they are barely worn, and installed the one I removed and adjusted the nut so the new drums would fit over the old shoes.I am prety sure everything is back together correctly, it was identical to the other side which doesnt click.

No, it is not a wheel bearing as they are in great shape.

Anybody havea clue what would make a clicking sound under moderate braking?

thanks for your help fellas!

okay, It wasnt the left, it was the right side, and it went away when i swapped back to the old drums and adjusted the shoes to fit right. What could be up with these cheap *** WEAREVER drums from advance? I believe it is actually a bit out of round as it catches spinning around at certain spots. Would this make the clunking sound I am hearing?

it could just be the way the aftermarket drum connects to the hub. there might be ever so slight contact when the wheel spins.. this will probably go away after 50 miles when whatever was contacting gets worn away..

this happened to me when i installed aluminum drums for an 87 hf. after some miles, the noise went away..

so that could be causuing the clunking sound when braking? It is a hell of a sound, pretty loud but with the old drums back on it isnt there. Thanks, Once these shoes are worn Ill throw the whole new setup on and see what happens.

Check your stabilizer links. Firmly grasp the stabilizer bar and move it up and down and side to side. If there is excessive play, replace with new stabilizer link. Repeat step for other side.

Temporary fix would be to zip tie the link to the bar.

Good luck.
