swapping high mileage B18A for low mileage B18A
i need some input on what all are the steps in swapping out a b18a engine for the same exact engine just with lower miles. how long should it take and any hidden problems that there might be i sure would appreciate it.
Is it the same year engine??? if you specify the year of current engine and new one that would help since b18a was offered 90-93 not too much needed... basic tools metric sockets.... 10mm 12mm 14mm 17mm 3/8 drive sockets also wrenches.... you will also need a 32mm half inch drive socket and long breaker bar or impact for the axle nuts....A BFH (big [freak]ing hammer) also recommended to knock the ball joints loose... also do the timing belt and waterpump while its all apart and also replace the thermostat... also you will have the axles out of the transmission so its usually a good idea to replace the axle seals at this time.. also a drain and refill of the tranny is a great idea but again not required...about 2 1/2 qts of Honda MTF or just some good quality 10w30...Also check out the condition of the clutch... for most cars its a good idea to replace the clutch while its apart unless it has been done recently......let me know if you got any more questions
yea there both 91 integras that im swapping out so everything is the exact same. i was just making sure that there was no suprises hidden ya know haha. i probably repalce the head gasket and some seals on the new motor im putting in cause it does leak a little but not much at all. but thanks for the input if i need some more help ill let you know. also if you need any parts for a DA i got a whole car that im parting out cause of a bent unibody uner the rear of it.
