Default quick ls and gsr block question

whats the main difference between the blocks? i blew my piston rings, and need to redeck, and rehone my gsr block, aswell, as buy new bareing and whatnot... which will cost me an *** load of $.

i found a newly honed, and decked b18a1 block fairly cheap, and was wondering what the main difference was between the blocks if any.

i plan on dropping in an ls crank if i keep my gsr block, so im basicaly just wondering about the shortblock. durability differences? etc.

TIA!

Block wise, GSR has VTEC oil feed and squirters. However, if you are going to run an LS crank, you no longer need squirters since the LS rods have squirters located in the tops of the big ends of them anyway. GSR block has girdle on center 3 mains, LS block does not. Otherwise, deck height is just a tiny bit different.

so it really wont make a difference? would the deck height make a difference in C/R if we use the ls crank, gsr rods and pistons in both blocks?

Rule of thumb is to use the rods that match the crank. IE: LS crank to LS rods, GSR crank to GSR rods.
