proportioning valve?
alright i have a 92 honda accord lx and i need to take out the proportioning valve to clean it cuz i think it is clogged with crap. But i don't know which one it is in my car and i don't know the proper way of taking it out. Can someone help me with this? If possible can you take a picture of what it looks like and i would really appreciate it if someone could also give me like step-by-step directions on how to remove it, clean it, and put it back in. Thanks a bunch.
well i think its the proportioning valve because i have already changed the calipers and my brakes calipers keep closing on my front brake rotors to much and for some reason its only my front brakes that are messed up, my back brakes are fine...but neways...after driving for a little while in the city pressing the brakes and releasing them, my front brakes tend to "lock up", my calipers close to much on my rotors and won't let my front wheels move freely.. and i took it to a mechanic and they thought it was my proportioning valve or my master cylinder...but i just replaced my master cylinder so now im thinking its my proportioning valve...but if you guys think its something else please let me know...cuz i want to know what is exactly wrong with my brakes cuz im not able to drive very far without letting my car sit for hours to let all the pressure release in the brake lines before i can drive it again. Thanks a bunch.
Oh so NOW we get the whole story. LOL
Here's the lowdown.
You put in an Aftermarket master cylinder, and now the brake pedal push rod needs to be adjusted.
Go dash diving and shrink the rod length down, 12mm nuts I think, Only adjust about 1/2 turn at a time. Then test drive.
FWIW. There is a special jig that mounts to the face of the booster to set the rod engagement, to within .001 of an inch.

since i don't do any work on brakes on my car cuz its like the most important part of the car....i took it to a shop and told them to do all of it but im not sure if they did or not. but i will try bleeding them tomorrow cuz i have to head to work right now so yeah...thanks for the info.
what the hell lol.. how are you supposed to do the swap from drums to discs in the rear from the EX? get a different prop valve from something else? like a 40/40?
Wouldn't even bother with the valve on your swap ... We use the old prop valve nd its work fine on two different road course setups......Prelude front calipers and 93 EX rears.
