were you trying to just check the timing? or adjust it with a timing light?

what distributor are you using??? the stock one while bolting up fine might not have enough adjustment in it to get the correct timing.

the service connector is the plug you jump to check for codes. its on the passenger kick panel.

its an ef though you check the codes by the little blinking led on the ecu. or is there a service contector there too like on the eg's?? honestly i probably wont even mess with it till i do mpfi. thanks though.

you still have a SCS in the same spot as all other civics. the ecu will change the timing to compensate for all kinds of things, so you have to jump the connector to keep base timing. if you have been setting timing without doing this you have been very lucky.
