Okay this is the story...I was driving and this random wire under the passenger side of the car started burning ( it like burnt the carpet ). I think this cable was for like my subs or speakers but it didnt have no electric tape. So after it started burning i turned off my car...then next thing you know i tried to start it back up but it wont start?...however the headlights work. Did i blow a fuse?...starter fuse?...help plz

 

First disconnect the wire that was burning. Next, as you mentioned, check for blown fuses in the under-hood and -dash fuse/relay boxes.

 

yeah i checked if but there is no blown fuses...is there a diagram which you can show me where the starter fuse or relay is or something?...plz n thnx. I dont have a main relay switch diagram.

 

Help narrow the problem to the fuel or ignition system:

1) Do you hear the humming noise of the fuel pump for a few seconds when you turn the key to ON but don't crank the engine?

2) Is there spark at the plugs? Pull off a plug wire and insert a good plug in the end. Have a buddy crank the engine while you ground the plug threads to a convenient metallic engine part. You should see a bright spark at the tip of the plug. Repeat for each plug wire.

 

the thing is the engine wont even crank...

 

Try recharging the battery. Also clean the battery terminals and connectors before hooking them up to the recharged battery. The O'Reilly in my neighborhood charges battery for free.

Where/how was the subs and speakers cable hooked into the car's electrical system?

 

iv already tried to get a boost, it the wires were connected it was just laying under my glovedepartments....it just heated up and burned the carpet...Im thinking the main relay blew?

 

is it cranking?

 

The engine would crank even if the main relay were blown. Focus on the battery and its connections first.

If the battery is fine, then troubleshoot the starter. Inspect each of the starter wires and connectors. Also test whether the engine will crank by providing battery power directly to the starter. If not, the starter is likely bad.

okay i checked the engine bay fuses...and the IG fuse ( Ignition Ground?) was blown, so i replaced that n it started up again. BTW i wrapped the two wires that touched with electric tape...But thank you all for your help
