Default Rear Main Seal.

Ive recently noticed a bit of oil around the bottam of my motor and have came to the conclusion that its my rear main seal.

Now, Its not alot of oil. I do oil changes every 3000. By three thousand i'm near the bottam hole on the dipstick. Which i dont think is too bad.

On a 1 to 10 scale. For someone with no lift. just a floor jack, jackstands and a garage. How hard is replaceing the seal?
This is for a 99 D16y8 in my 98 DX.

If i find it to be more trouble than i can get into with my resouces. How much would a shop charge to perform this? Ive got a good shop my parents have been going to since ive been young.

Thanks.

I just noticed exactly the same thing on mine (99 EX w/ D16Y8). How did you go about it? Take it to the shop or DIY? Even though I see oil covering some of the oil pan and the clutch housing, I can't tell for certain if it is the rear main seal or the oil pan gasket. Is your like that too? How did you come to the conclusion it was the rear main seal?

Rear main seal replacement with photos. I'm in the process of replacing my clutch, and I think I have a rear main seal leak as well. Now's the time to do it.
