Default How important is it to reset the ECU after Mods?

I have a 95 Honda Accord Ex Coupe.

I recently put in a SRI and didn't reset the ECU... Even though it said to in that tutorial.
I resetting it now and I'll drive it later.

Does it affect things like horns?
Because I bought a new horn from Autozone that was supposed to very loud and deep, but it sounds weak and crappy.

Will resetting my ECU help this also or did I just get hosed on the horn?

I also did a tune up. Rotor, plugs, plug wires, distributer cap and pcv
Do you need to reset it then also.

Because I've never done that before.

It is advised to reset your ECU any time you make changes to any part of the engine, or ignition even if it is just OEM replacement. Resetting the ECU will not help with your horn situation.

If you don't reset it nothing catastrophic will happen. It just takes longer for your ECU to learn/adjust to the new parts. Ie you won't see instant changes with the new parts. If you reset it it starts from scratch and compiles all new data from the sensors to start adjusting right away. I believe it is within the first few minutes of the car idling (without revving the engine) after a reset that it will learn all the new sensor readings and make the appropriate adjustments.

unplug the negative terminal on your battery for 30minutes = general rule. however, my tacoma seems to reset the instant the negative is unplug.

Easiest way is to go under the hood and Remove the 7.5 A Fuse labeled Back Up for 10-30 seconds and your good to go!

If you unplug the battery (-) terminal
1. it doesn't need to be disconnected for 30min, 30 seconds will do
2. It will reset your radio so make sure you have your stereo security code handy

You just need to disconnect the negative terminal. Once you do that, get in the car, step on the brake pedal for like 15 seconds to get any juice out of there and then reconnect.
