Hey guys I totaled my Lude yesterday, I got sandwiched between 2 cars.
Does anyone know how much I will get for a 92 S with ~190,000 miles?
The car is in good condition. If they figure the price from the Blue Book Value, is it the Trade-In Value, The Private Party Value, or the Suggested Retail Price. If anyone could tell me which one of those 3 is the price they are gonna give me for the car, that would be awesome and I could figure it out from there.
May my Prelude rest in peace, I'll always remember the good times.

I would like to add to this thread that their are insurance companies out there that cover your extra parts on the car. Cause a 92 lude si in good condition is mabey worth 3000 bucks. And bolt-ons with some wheels cost more than the car itself. Cover your extra parts

If it was another drivers fault then your insurance company may help you get the money that the car is worth since it wont be their dime. I have progressive and they tell you on the site what they think your car is worth for comprehensive insurance purposes.

It was another driver's fault but I never got his license plate because I'm a complete idiot and when I crashed, getting a plate number was the last thing on my mind.
I am assuming that there was a police report done if the accident totalled your car. contact your insurance company and they will find out who the other driver was, no big deal unless he took off before police arrived.
be pre3pared to argue the value f your car. my friend had a 92 integra that was in mint condition with 80k miles and records of lots of recent maintenance work. she got his by a teen driver and [freak]ed her car up, it did not look too bad til you saw that from the windshield forward the car was crooked, pushed almost an inch to one side.
Local market value on a car like that was 2500-3000 at the time, insurance offered her $1200. With several ads in hand and reports from KBB and NADA as well as threatening to sue the driver and bypass the insurance company she was able to get $1800.

You need to file a police report then if you haven't already. Hit and run is no small deal. Did his car look driveable? Do you remember possible makes/models? Understandable to not be paying that much attention to it at the time but it would help. Sorry you have to go through all this crap.

I was going to file a police report but I didn't even see if his car was driveable all I know is that it was a white truck, no make, no model, I didn't even see what state he was from so I figured I don't even have enough info to file one.

im assuming you have full coverage?
if you want your insurance to pay for you car you need to provide then with a police report even if you don't have any info on the other car that hit they still need that report so they can summit the claim.

ok then you should be good, but i dont think your getting more 2k for your car you will be lucky if you get 2500? it really depends on your insurance company.
what happen to the other car involve in the accident?

Basically the guy in front of me just got a few scratches which pissed me off I wish my car could do some damage.
But I know that guy that I was pushed into and he didn't care about the scratches at all, his car is a piece anyway he is getting a new one soon so he told me not to worry about it.

Our cars are meant to fold and look like they are unsafe but Honda really knows how to develop crumple zones which make me feel better driving around with all those tanks on the road. I dont know what state you are in but in NJ a hit and run is automatically a 1 year license suspension. I hope everything works out for you but in the future if someone hits you, report it to the police.

Yea it doesn't even look that bad the frame's not bent in the front or back just the radiator support is messed up but thats replaceable. The guy at the body shop said it has a lot to do with the amount of miles on my car too that makes the insurance company want to total it. He said they don't think it will be worth it to fix it.
That may be a break for you. If it runs fine and they total it then buy it back for peanuts and drive it. My buddy got into three accidents involving the front end of his 94 Accord, he just kept buying hoods and pulling out the radiator support to make it semi decent and kept using it as his commuter car. By the time he sold it to me (I needed a beater and he bought a brand new car) you could adjust the rad support by hand ha ha. I drove the heck out of it and sold it with a spray painted gray body, quarter panel rust cut out in the rear, and 185,000 miles for $1900 with no problem.
