pretty much the only way to do it.

Use 'Goof Off' or any other label adhesive remover with a rag and peel it off with a razor blade. You can use an acetone based thinner (nail polish remover), but that could damage your interior plastic paneling if you're not careful.
The thinner will turn the glue into a gelatin substance that will come off fairly easily. This is the best solution I've ever had success with aside from using a steam machine but those are expensive.

i've done the razor blade and windex. it works just messy initially but after the first window you get the hang of how to do it and you don't have to worry about ruining any interior pieces. the trick is to let it soak for a minute or two and have at it. starts to become fun to try and get as much adhesive as you can with one swipe of the blade. make sure to do it in the garage or some place that will keep the car in the shade.

how many of you actually did it?
heat the car up first before pulling the film, you'll get most of them out if you get the temperature right.
since you already pulled it off, use windex and razor blade on the side window.
for the rear winow(with defroster or antenna mesh) use ultra fine steelwool

I've been removing tint for years and I've never used windex. Honestly, I've heard it works but I have always used a detergent based interior cleaning spray or label adhesive remover to break up the residue.
A heat gun works great. IMO a steam machine works better.
Sometimes you get lucky and only need a razor blade to remove the tint and the residue comes off with it without heating it up at all.
It's a case-by-case basis and you won't know what the job needs until you get to working on it. I'll have to try the windex next time to see how it stands up against my regular routine.

little bit of baby shampoo and water works great all my friends use it about 1/4 baby shampoo to 3/4 water in a spray bottle and a razor blade gets the glue off
