darton flanged or darton replacement sleeves?
which one you guys think? i dont know the difference, so if you can explain it to me great. also will the machine shop charge extra to do the flanged sleeve? i have looked all over and did some reasearch but could not find anything. please help. i need to order them asap. also if you know someone who has them let me know. i have call a few places and they dont have them. thanks
If your repairing a stock engine than the repair sleeves are fine.If your going bigger on the bore or more power than the flanged sleeves are the way to go.And yes the flanged sleeves are a lot more to install.
The Darton MID are the Flanged Iron Ductile sleeves as shown in this picture.
You can go bigger bore with the MID style

The replacement sleeves are straight sleeves which are good as well, but not really suitable for bigger bores or high high performance race setups. Like Njin was saying, its used to repair stock sleeves or for use wiith stock bore.
Sorry I dont have a picture of the replacement sleeve. If you need the MID sleeves, let me know. We're a stocking dealer for Darton Sleeves.

thanks for the replies. ExospeedAMcrx, do you have any of the replacement sleeves? anymore mput would be appreciated. thanks
You're talking about wanting to buy a built B-series shortblock for a turbo setup, but you're thinking about some OEM replacement sleeves? Don't waste your time with those, and don't waste your time having a local machine shop install sleeves. Either get your block sleeved by a company that deals with high performance Honda builds all the time and sleeves them regularly, or don't sleeve your block at all.
You didn't specify which Honda block you were working with. But in any case, Darton makes a flanged dry liner for the D series, B series, H series, K series and the F20. These dry liners are designed for high horsepower street engines and will hold up to a reasonable amount of boost. I would recommend the MID for racing use or a very high boost or nitrous street engine.
The dry liners are considerably less expensive than the MID liner and are less expensive to install as well. They must be installed with CNC equipment by someone familiar with doing these installs as someone else mentioned.
I do the R&D for Darton and am one of the patent holders on the MID line of sleeves. You can send your block to Darton or I can deal with you directly once you decide what you want to do with your block.
