Question for those EF track racers!
okay, I'm starting to build my EF. My goal is to get it on the track for some autocross racing.
Anyway- the question, I've searched around the forums a bit, and read some posts on suspension, but I'm wondering if any number of people have input on a really strong, track-ready suspension setup.
The EF's gonna be turboed on a rebuilt d15b7 that I did. So weight shouldnt be too huge of a difference up front as a b series might be.
I'm a noob. What keeps a 225/250hp EF on the track?
Thanks

Go to roadrace/autocross forum and do a search there.
The basic and well proven auto-x set-up for most civics is close to:
*Koni's with ground controls 450f/550r spring rates
*no front or hf front sway bar
*stiff rear bar
*15x7 wheels with either azenis or hankook rs2's (however since you will be turbo you will be in sm or sp so tire and wheel size are up to you... and you should be able to run r-compounds)
*Get the car light as you can per the class requirements.

the ideal setup since thats an sm car is 15x9-10 up front with 275 hoo hoos. a good clutch type lsd in the trans and youll be set. 205 hoosier out back on a 15x7 +40 offset.
as far as suspension, its as far as u wanna go. at a minimum, ull need short/revalved konis and 500"/lb front, something in the 500 range out back with the asr rear bar (exhaust in stock layout will not fit)
if u wanna go crazy with shocks, get koni race, jrz, moton, ect.

that got outta hand real quick.
thanks for the input, bros.
Oh. Side question: I heard that there's an urban myth; that the bottom end of the d15 will basically destroy itself at anything over 220hp. Truth? Or is that with sh!tty tuning, or on a daily driver or what?
Cuz I would really enjoy a bit more hp...say 221hp.
Thanks.

I think the All-Motor/Turbo forums would be able to answer that question better for you. I'm guessing you're talking stock bottom-end though? If so, I'd be wary of pushing it past that anyway.
yea, just pin it till it blows up......220 on a d15. thats like trying to make 220 in a yugo. why go through all that effort when you could do it easier with something else.
