hey does any of you guys know what head gasket i should get for my mini me swap??? i have a 99 d16y7 block with a 95 vtec head. do i get just a gasket for a vtec d16????

 

well i usually go with whatever the head is but ive also used ones by the block...ive got a d15b7 with a d16z6 head and a z6 Head Gasket but my last Gasket was a d15b7 so it shouldn't matter...Timing belts another story lol Good Luck

 

make sure you check the head gasket with the one originally on the car.
the felpro headgasket didn't line up with the boltholes for the head in 2 places. had to go oem, not that oem gaskets are bad, but i'm on a budget lol

 

hey well i bought a used d16y7 but i only swapped the cylinder heads but used the same head gasket but as always the head gasket went bad after a month of use, and now i saw that i was passing water to my oil so i stopped using the car until i can change the gasket, but since i have never done anything like this i dont really know. i originally had the d16y8 on the car since i have a 98 civic ex but that motor granaded and i got the non vtec cheap. well also i have around 215 compression on all cylinder so could that also make my head gasket to blow???? well any opinions is welcome.

 

always replace your head gasket upon removing the head...
