Default egt or a/f gauge? pleae help!

i know this topic's been covered before but i'm getting alot of mixed opinions and pretty much lost now. since i'm a noobie and don't know all that much about tuning, i figured a/f guages will be easier for me to read(and better looking w/ all the lights and everything ) but i'm told a egt is much more reliable/accurate. i thought about autometer a/f and i heard they suck, just like the egt/pyrometer. can you guys give me gauge parts list that wont break the bank and be able to monitor my engine pretty well hopefully under 2 mr. ben franklins?

If you aren't willing to spend money on a good AF meter your best bet would be to get an EGT. The combo of a GOOD A/F meter and EGT is unmatchable. A A/F meter that does not have it's own heated, wide band sensor and signal amplifier/heater control circuitry is nothing more than an idiot light.

i emailed halmeter.com and they told me that the new meters will work w/ the stock sensor? should i still get one from them? also, i'm not planning on doin my own tuning so what can i use just get by in monitoring what's goin on under the hood. also, do you think i should go w/ hondata2b or the vafc hack? i know hondata is better but i figure if i get the msd 6btm and vafc, i would be able to install it myself and be more of a learning experience. what do you guys think?

Sometimes overly rich conditions cause high ex temps and this condition can only be identified with a AF meter/EGT combo (or a good datalogger).
