ok so i just did a b18c itr swap with an LS trany into mi 99 LS. everything was working awesome until i did a launch trying to see what was 0-60mph was. and when i launched the spedo stopped working and about ten mins later check engine light came on. so i did a cel check it threw code 17 i think. it did a long blink then blink blink blink blink blink blink blink then blink blink. its a p73 ecu. any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

also checked the speedo in the trany took it out looks like everything is good and made sure plug was good and it was. its not reading the mph at all cause vtec isnt even working. you have to be going 17mph for vtec to work....

 

Code 17 is the vehicle speed sensor. Check the plug. VTEC will not work if the VSS is not working.

 

yeah figured out obd2 is totaly different then obd1. so i went out to walmart to buy a obd2 code reader and it was 100 dollars so i said screw that and on the way home my altenator went bad so im jacked. im buying an altenator and a b16 trany and calling it a day.

 

try replacing your speed cable cuz my car did the same thing and thats what the problem was
