Stolen recovered Type-R, Missing front Dash, would I still be able to register as a street car?
I was thinking of purchasing another Stolen recovered Type-R, but the only dilemma I face with this Type-R is that Its a fully stripped vehicle thats missing the doors, trunk, motor and full interior, the dashboard was also taken and now I have no Vin tag that is visible through the car's windshield. The the Vin Tag on the driver side door jam is still intacked. I would like to know would I still be able to register the car without any extra hassle or will I have to go through certain steps to obtain another VIN tag, either from the transportation department, or from the Provincial police department?
I was thinking about having a VIN tag etched that matches my VIN number and placing that on the dashboard, but I don't want to do anything that maybe consider illegal.
or
Am I **** out of luck with registering this car as a road vehicle?
I'm located in the Toronto, Ontario area and if anybody on HT is familiar with methods of registration or has had any experience in this field I will greatly appreciate any info.
P.s. I did a search on this topic and only found one thread that wasn't to clear or helpful.
Thanks

Every state/province is probably different. You're best off to check your DMV website or give them a call. Depending on the condition of the title, you may not even be able to register the car for the road, regardless of VINs. (In NY, Junk, Parts-only, or Non-repairable titles cannot be made street legal). If registering is a possibility, you may have to go through an Ontario operated inspection and they might be able to rivet some new VIN tags.
Best of luck

There are a couple of location in Toronto that do it. Its called Photo Chemically Etching or Laser Etching. You might not notice it but alot of classy business pens and wedding rings are Chemically Etched or Laser Etched. But when it pretains to creating you own VIN for replacing, it might not be legal. Do a google search for your area and your bound to find something
