Default Turbo D16 Back from the Track. Broken Trans. *Pics up*

First run was more or less a test pass. I launched way too soft. Im used to preloading and launching on my rev limiter.
Now that Ive got an anti-lag its totally different. I didnt build enough boost and just bogged out of the hole. Hence the 1.999 60 ft.

Second run wasnt much better. I busted my 2nd gear in the burnout box. My own mistake. Ive been told not to shift in the burnout. But I did, and I felt something break.

I launched a bunch better on 2nd run with a 1.741 60 ft, but my 2nd gear locked out for a bit and then I just jammed it in and went from there.

All in all. Im very happy with my MPH for the power im making. A new trans and Ill be out there bringing back 10.99 very soon.

Most of you know my setup but here it is anyway.

90 STD hatch gutted.
z6 block w/ vitaras and eagles.
Y7 head stock with aem cam gear. z6 intake manifold and t/b stock.
Cast iron ebay manifold with holset h1c @ 22-23 psi. 3 inch DP. No exhaust.
23x8x13 m&h on lenso's.
Tuned by Xenocron. Car made 280whp but since then has been re tuned on the street.
I *think* Si trans lol. Dont matter anymore its busted. Case cracked up right behind the diff somehow, fluid everywhere. And I still drove it home 70 miles !

Thats what I would guess.

I really have no idea though. I didnt cut any of the car out other than the hood webbing.

My last dyno was 279 whp 210 wtq.

Since then I got retuned on the street because I changed my exhaust mani from an ebay tubular to a ebay cast mani.

After the street tune it seemed like I had about 50 more ft lbs, but my high end hp might have been sacrificed from the short runners.

Anyway im still guessing its somewhere near 280.

Thanks dude.

Which ebay cast mani is it? Does it have a manufacturer name on it anywhere?

I got a fairly cheap manifold that Im going to replace my old Drag mani with at some point. The Drag mani has did well but its starting to form a small crack that is visible on the outside. I ran across this certain manifold and Im going to give it a try at some point. I feel that it will work fairly well for me.......

Pics of carnage!

Dude, you've got anti-lag, start your burnout in gear number 2. Honestly you could probably even light them up in 3, but I doubt your clutch will enjoy that very much.

Good times.

See I told you over on turboD16 someone would tell you to do the burnout in 2nd or 3rd gear.

rota would do 2nd gear burnout's when he was making 280whp or short shift to 2nd as soon as the clutch hit in 1st.

There was one set of tire marks where 1st gear was about 3ft long and 2nd gear was about 60ft long.

Frank Rehak at the DDS told us the D tranny would only hold 550HP. That was a few years back. I wonder as fatigue set's in that HP number lowers.

I think we have been through the motor mount thing, all your mounts are strong or solid ? you need to keep the driveline from flexing/rotating. Try some solid lower mounts like we had made for rota's car.

I hope your keeping an eye mike's thread too.

When I get home tonight, I'll try and remember to post photo of the solid L bracket we had made for rota's car last season. Tranny side.

The drivers side had a 1/4 steel plate from the A/C bracket to the traction bar.

The photo's are on here some where.

That actually looks pretty easy to make.

Where can I get some of that flat steel plate ?

Thanks a lot.

Will Dr.

I would have responded sooner but I was on one of the skiing forums.

If you can weld, you should know where to get stock from. Sorry for that.

You may want to call NRG Tech. You should be able to find them in rota92's thread. They could make them for you. Ryan say's there down there some where. NYC area.

Any hardware store should have some metal stock around too.

Shouldnt be too big a deal.
