Default *** Feeding cable thru firewall ***

Ok, im in the process on installing a hoodlock on my integra. I need to feed a cable from the inside interior to the engine bay. There is a hole in the firewall right by the clutch resevoir. A few questions:

1) I popped off the gromet covering the hole in the firewall. I see what seems to be sound deadening / insulation material.. should i just cut a hole right thru? or should i be able to drop straight down from there?

2) Having not passed 1 yet, if i feed a wire from the engine bay thru that hole, can i expect it to simplyl drop thru on the interior side by the pedals?

thanks in advance for any info.

You should be able to fish a coat hanger through the exisitng hole from the engine bay to the interior of your car. Just tape the wire to the other end of the coat hanger and pull the wire through.
