change out the diff fluid and check the amount you take out compared to amount you put back in... could be just low... and its not a bad idea to change the rest of ur fluids ie: oil and tranny since you dont know when the last owner did them... good luck with the car and enjoy... ohh and welcome

what he said....and hopefully it's not too late. my last diff made a similar noise and it turned out that i sheared a couple teeth off of the pinion gear.

sounds like a wheel bearing issue also. When you jack the car up go ahead and attempt to spin your wheel or something. with the LSD i forgot if it spins or not lol. But if you hear more of a scraping sound then its your wheel bearing. How many miles on that thing?

it has roughly 73000 + miles. i thought wheel bearing also, after i looked at the breaks but i need to find a hydro prees to get the out of the hub. i think im going to replace the the diff fluid and check the drive shaft cv's

if you hear the noise more while turning a certain way or accelerating, i would say wheel bearing. i just replaced one of my rear wheel bearings.

i would do all the subtle/obvious things first and then move to the more difficult/expensive fixes... hopefully its just low fluid :fingerscrossed:

that makes sense it does do it while turning more often, then just driving down the road. as to working the easy to hard route that is the plan. once again thank you

Anytime, and make sure you get the bearing and new axle nut from HONDA, the bearing is actually cheaper at honda than autozone or napa, but it isnt a hard job, it took me a little under three hours and i pressed the bearing in/out myself

well finally after taking apart the entire rear end it came down to the stupid dust shield which kept bending in to the rear brake rotor. in the mean time i replaced the diff fluid, rear bearings and re-greased the axels. i chose to grind down the dust shield about a 1/4 inch and havent had a problem. In addition to all that i put on a j's racing intake in place of the aem v2 the previous owner put on.

glad it was nothing serious...sounds like it was a PITA to diagnose though.
