Default Why are Integra Type Rs stolen so much?

Hi I am new to this forum and I love the old Integra Type Rs. I am wondering how come they are stolen all the time? I know they are desirable cars, but i don't hear about other expensive cars getting stolen as much as integra type Rs do.

Supply and demand. It's an easy car to strip completely apart, and almost every part will sell instantly.

That and majority of the parts transfer right over to the other Honda's (civics/integra/etc)

Cause all the hondas from the late 80s to early 2000s are like LEGOs.

troof......

I am just still amazed that 7 years after the last year of production this is still as much of an issue as it is. Which sucks.

Also the punishment for thieves is little to none. I bet if you got caught stealing and we chopped a hand off, how many thieves do you think there would be? As opposed to the slap on the wrist and "Don't do it again" type punishment.

WHy are they so stolen...

Rare.
Fast.
Quality.
A billion LS, GS, and RS Integras trying to imitate
No factory alarm
Rare parts

Simple fact is everyone wants who drives an Integra wants it to look cool. Type-Rs are cool. Solution? Turn your Integra into a "type-R".

YOu have no idea how many integras I see sporting R wings and how many people dream of getting a B18c5.

Plus Hondas are cake to steal, apparently. Dammit Honda, have some [freak]ing foresight!!!! I mean, look at the new Mugen Si- before it was even released there was already one that had been stripped to all-hell.

Universal parts man. $!*%@*!#

Chase hits the nail on the head IMO. He touches on the root of all of our worries and sorrows. Other comments are extremely valid, but his is the root.

Because we insist on restoring them, thus creating a market for the parts (potentially buying back our own parts).

I'll disagree completely on this one. I'll bet more than 90% of all the stolen parts that are sold off are not put back on to any Type R.

Because more lowlife drive old hondas from the street racing crowd.
They can't afford upscale expensive cars.

Why? Because, up to today, You can not even buy a performance car like the ITR for the same price. For this reason, the ITR retains it's value very well and become one of the most popular sport car. Now, the "supply and demand" part comes in.

That's not it. The GS-R is very frequently stolen, too. For all the same reasons as the ITR - people want to put the more powerful engine and other parts into their base Integras and Civics.

I was walking out of my car on my way to Jamba Juice when I noticed a beat up Del sol sitting outside. Just for ***** and giggles, I looked at the guage cluster, and guess what I saw? The cluster had a redline of 8400rpm. Who knows, maybe they just had an itr cluster, but what are the chances that such a bucket would have a stolen engine?

Its hard to say. My gs-r had a USDM ITR cluser in it before switching to an EDM unit. However, it was purchased from an owner to had wrecked the car (rolled.) Most don't ask for a VIN etc when purchasing used items. IMO, these days you have to.

Because people still confuse ITR's with Ferraris

this includes many current owners as well.

The answer is simple. Because RTW drives one. Women want him. Men want to be him, at any cost...
