Default Lower ball joint question

Hey all,

I am in the process of replacing my LBJ in my 89 crx si. I am at the point where you put the nut on the bolt to tighten down the LBJ, but when I turn the nut the bolt turns with it and I cant torque it up????

Am I forgetting something?

Help!

have someone push down on the spindle, or if you have air tools use them.

I don't have air tools, but I will give pushing down on the spindle a try.

Thanks!

Pretty much from what I hear you have to have air tools...I am in the same spot as you. There is a way of using a flat screwdriver to push down on it but without air you might be stuck....GL

Ok cool, I just tried pushing down and I had no luck.

Do auto parts stores rent out socket guns/compressors?

Thanks again peeps!

I had to take my jack to the lca and keep jacking til there was enough pressure to hold the ball joint in place before I could get it to tighten. though I do have a snap-on 1/2 drive battery powered impact that I used to get it tight I figure hand tools would have worked to since the ball joint was tight enough from the jack (it did lift the rest of the car a little off the jackstand on that side but it was still stable )

I just had a buddy tell me about the jack trick. Man I need a bigger jack now =D

I'll defiantly give this a try!

I hope this works

the problem is the castle nut. it stretches and messes up the threads.

buy a new castle nut or rethread it with a 12x1.25mm tap.
