Default vtec problem

watzup guys. i got a wierd problem with my vtec. lets see. i have a chipped p28 with vtec engagement at 5200. now wen i try to engage vtec , it acts like a redline, meaning it doesnt want to pass wen vtec is suppose to engage. There is no check engine light. no oil leak. i even checked da solenoid n you can hear the clicking noise. need help quick, tryin to get ready for a circuit event.. thanks..

Has it done it sence you had your computer chipped or did it just start now? And who did you have it tuned by?

naw the problem just started. ive had da ecu for a long time. i doubt its da ecu. i had da ecu wit my built cpt setup n nothin was wrong. anywayz i tried out my hb's ecu, only thing is his vtec engages at 5700. n it still does da same thing. i even tried a virgin gsr. same thing. weneva vtec is suppose to engage, it acts like a redline.

What that means is that the ecu doesn't see that the car is meeting all the requirements to engage vtec.

Mine does this too and its because the ecu doesn't see the vtec pressure witch turn my crossover point into a rev limiter.

Absolutely nothing.

Check the wiring, double check to make sure everything is hooked up.

What motor is this by the way?

itz a gsr. umm all da wiring is hooked up rite. ive triple checked it so many times. if it was hooked up wrong, den check code would come on. just to be sure dat da check code works, i unplug da solenoid switch, den run da motor, n check code comes on. but f i plug it, reset it. n den let da car warm up n try n engage vtec, nada. ive cleaned the screen a lot of times. everytime i check it, the oil is like new, no clogs, no dirt, no shavings, nothin.

watzup guys. thankz for the help. found out the problem. it was real simple. it was my silencer for my exhaust. there wasnt enough airflow causing increased back pressure puttin the motor into fail safe mode.. haha weird. on sunday mornin i was gettin ready to go to willow springs so i took my silencer off my exhaust. so den i was thinkin..hmm my motor will be runnin a lot smoother so i just reset the ecu n next thing u know, hittin the freeway my vtec worked..haha.. but its kinda loud so yesterday i put the silencer on n it does the same problem be4. but i aint trippin. i dont be racin on the streets or highways anymore. just too damn dangerous n risky with all those undercover cops around. ohh just givin u guys the heads up in southern cali.

A silencer should not put your motor into "limp" mode or kill VTEC. It may change the sound, but it surely would not disable VTEC.

i know it sounds freaken weird bro. but itz true. the silencer creates so much back pressure to the extent where air flow is not flowin fast enough so prolly the ecu reads dis, therefore it goes in2 limp mode, so the motor doesnt overflow with fuel wen vtec is suppose to engage. cuz u know wen vtec engages more fuel is added. cuz u know during the cc process the exhaust fumes have to release in a perfect flow, so the process can happen all over again, if for any reason there is a disruption in the process den limp mode will happen. u prolly know dis but da reason y the exhaust fumes have to be release in a perfect flow is so dat the cc doesnt get too hot wen the process happens all over again, if its too hot n da process happens again, den the motor can detonate.
