Default Help me get me VTEC working

Let me get right to the point here. I currently have an automatic D15B (JDM SOHC VTEC) engine in my Civic, and I was told that I only need a few things to get VTEC up and running.

Katman: Here are the pics of the engine.

As you can see by the third picture, There's some sort of wire holder along the valve cover near the oil cap. Adam told me there's supposed to be a wire there...but I forgot what it was for... haha Anyway, hope you guys can help.

As far as I know, I'd be needing a USDM auto P28 ECU from a 92-95 auto EX, a VTEC solenoid, and some others that I forgot.

Thanks a bunch!

Wow, there's such thing as D15B with vtec? Is it even worth getting vtec to kick in? I mean I have a D16 sohc vtec with an itr ecu and I still dread it everyday.

LOL... Just a little something to be kind of unique.

I have a slow auto Civic and I still dread it everyday.

Yes, it had 130hp. Whats funny though, his head looks odd. I thought all SOHC VTECs had forward facing sparkplugs, not the old non-vtec rear facing plugs.

I see the spot for the vtec sol., but i really think thats a non-vtec head...

That's what I thought at first, but B18C1-EJ1 (Damn Adam I forgot your SN here) said that indeed it was a VTEC head, because of the spot that was sealed where the solenoid should go. I know that's not my old head though, because my valve cover didn't have that wire holder near the oil cap (for RHD cars), and who would replace my valve cover with a RHD one anyway?

Sweet, so all I need is the ECU, wiring and the solenoid then?

you know what?
After examing the pictures ....it looks like you MIGHT not have a SOHC VTEC head at all. Can you take the valve cover off and then take pics of the valvetrain? I ask this because, the sparkplugs are behind the oil cap...which is mainly found on non-vtec heads. And the valvecover doesn't even have 'VTEC-E' on it....

standard NON vtec head.

Looks like the head is of a CARBed motor, noting the fuel pump block off plate.

Naw, it's all good. I wasn't even trying to get that motor anyway. I had the engine replaced a few months ago, thinking I'd get another D15B7, but thought I was really lucky to at least have a Japanese block. It's all good though. At least my POS jalopy gets me from point A to point B, and that's what counts. As for taking pictures of the head, I might do it later to see what's up.

That little wire holder is for the JDM throttle cable. They come in front of the engine and back around to the throttle body. It is a very long contraption to say the least... So you are not missing a wire there..... Good luck....

Are you saying that my valve cover is Japanese?
