maintaining a "stock" appearance..
i recently got pulled over and got busted 4 having a cheapy i/h so im just curious is ther a way 2 improve air flow on a stock airbox? i.e. cutting/ shortning. and is there any after market / stock heat shields that fit over a/m headers? thanx in advance!
If you have the Carb OE plaque on the headers they cant say anything and for the intake allot of times all you need is a sticker similar to the name brand ones and they cant tell the difference. Sorry I can't help you keep the stock appearance

comptech intake looks stock
and spoon N1 exhaust looks small enough to be stock aswell
Apex-i world Sport exhaust you can paint it flat black and it will "look" stock to anyone that doesnt know any better...

Here's what I would do:
find some metal or even plastic piping that will fit inside the stock intake tubing, hopefully that might help as long as it doesn't restrict airflow due to the smaller inside diameter of the piping. throw a K&N filter on it, and take out the airbox below the air filter housing, and cut a hole in the inner fender plastic below the right side of the front bumper. this will allow air to flow up underneath the bumper, through the hole that your airbox passes, and into the air filter housing.
As far as the header goes, my first idea would be to paint it a flat brown color with super high-temp paint to make it match the color of the stock manifold. if that doesnt work, maybe find a way to mount your stock heat shield on it? hope this helps.

they do sell an aftermarket airbox system but they're on the expensive side. comptech, spoon, mugen, arc are just a few companies that carry them.it also varies by what motor your running.
