Rapid clicking when trying to start the car. What is it?

When i try to start the car it clicks very rapidly. What would this be?

the only thing i can think of is your (alt and ps) belts.

Your battery is severely discharged or dead. Recharge or replace it.

im gonan vouch for this answer to seeing as i had the same problem a few weeks ago and a new battery cured it
