RSX hands down, non-debateable. They will both hold their value equally and the rsx has way more potential. Only other car i'd consider would be a type-r which could be had for around the same price and will hold its value over those 2 cars 10 fold.
lucky baster, lol j/k if your gonna go to school then the car must be used for that. correct me if im wrong ? get a car thats gonna get you everywhere and keep the si For all the goodies your gonna get since your dad likes to hand out money.
or you could do the smart thing and keep the Si through college and buy a car when you don't have to rely on daddy's charity.
Plus putting that $5k in a high yield savings account, it would be almost $6100 after 4 years, or almost $6400 if you took 5. So when you're done and have a real paycheck, sell the Si, add the $6400 in the pot, and buy something far nicer than either.

Take the money, and hold onto it. Go to college and see how things go with your current car. If after a while you just can't stand the Si, look into getting another car. However, if after a while, you can't stand seeing her not getting the attention you want her to have, start spending some of that 5 grand on her. Simple as that, can't really tell you what car to get though. I wouldn't mind getting a 2000 Si in the future myself.
i say take the 5 G's and boost your civic. Youd beat a rsx s (stock, of course, comparing prices)
Youd fall in love with boost. If you get tired of it, try going ls/vtec. you'll love your boost then.

get the RSX. K20 with bolt-ons and a tune will be more than enough to satisfy you for a while. Not to mention the little perks of the type-s, like 6spd, leather, etc etc... And having a newer car with less miles is going to be a huge plus for a car that will get you through college.
If your getting tired of the si now, imagine how you're going to feel about it in 1-2 years. By then, if you haven't dumped the money into the si, which you will probably sell at that point, you will have most likely spent it on other random cost of living expenses related to college.

If you get a new car, you will hate, I mean HATE college parking lots. You will get dings, scratches, etc. etc. within a month. My car got egged the first week I was in college. You should:
A) Keep the Si and put away or invest the $5k.
B) Sell the Si, get a cheaper commuter (a Civic HX or maybe even an older Integra LS/GS. They all do the best on mileage and use regular gas.). You should be able to put a few more grand into the bank that way.
Trust me, bro, I went to one of the most conservative colleges, and my car got trashed. Throw ups, banged up bumpers, multiple door dings, etc. Never once did I get a note about the ding or scratch, or worst yet, huge dent in the front AND back bumper!
Get a gas-efficient, reliable and cheap car and call it good.

You gonna get tired of any car after owning for awhile. Key is to overcome that and learn to like the crust of something. Once you master that then decide when you want...
