Default H22a piston weight

Does anyone know the weight of these cast OEM pistons or any other h22 for that matter ? Im having a hard time finding the information.

Im also trying to find rod weight, if anyone knows that.

Did some searching, couldn't find anything online, don't have an accurate scale so i cant weigh some for you.

Just curious as to why you need to know?

i did weight them a year or two back, to compare stock rods and pistons to Mahle pistons and Probe rods. Never recorded it though i do recall that weight diff was a LOT though, something like 400 grams less on the aftermarket stuff. If i have time to find the rod and piston combos out of my wifes lude ill weigh em tomorrow.

I have a really nice digital scale but the max limit is 300g. So I've only been able to do wrist pins and whatnot. I've never had a chance to jsut weigh H22 pistons. It'd be real nice to know.

C'mon V4lu3s!

ok....i have an assembled h22a4 piston and rod assembly, it has the rod bearing in place as well as the nuts on the rod bolts too. It also has some carbon build up!

I don't have a super snazzy scale, but its not bad, its a Pitney Bowes digital postal scale.

Weight of one assembly is 1066 grams.

Thats inline with what I recall when I weighed 2 years ago as well, and my Mahle Power Pack pistons along with the probe rods were at least 200 grams lighter.

If you guys REALLY want piston and rod weights separate I will see what I can do. But I figure that rod and piston together is as good.

Well the mahle's im looking at are 348g plus the carrillo pro a rods are 484g. So they should be around 832 grams piston and rod combo, which from comparison seems pretty light for an NA build.

How much do most ots forged H22 pistons weigh? I was under the impression that the 4032 alloy used in the Mahle Goldseries are heavier than forged 'sleeved' pistons.

thats what i assumed also but from what I saw most pistons were about the same. The ones that were less didnt have as much of a dome. Im sure there are lighter pistons though.

Hmm...so I wonder what's better on weight. A longer rod or more dome/taller piston?

edit: strictly pertaining to stock components.

I wieghed my 88mm 11.5:1 Wisecos last night and they all came to 371g +-.7g.

Also wieghed my Carrillo Pro-A rods and they were 492g +-1.2g.

I need to find some more accurate scales lol.

EDIT: Pistons were weighed with circlips and wrist pins.

the mahle 11.5:1 power pak pistons i used say they should be 348 grams each, but i am using the 87.25 or 87.5 mm ones.
The probe rods are supposed to be 474 grams for a total of 822 before adding in the bearing weight.
