97 EK Hatch Rear Disc Swap
I am doing a rear disc swap on my 97 EK. Where should I take the brake cables from? I know I don't have to swap out the Master Cylinder and BB but I was wondering if anyone has done the swap without changing the MC and BB and felt the need to do it at a later time. For now I am just using stock Integra discs but plan to upgrade later to something aftermarket.
Use SI cables. Dont need to upgrade Master and BB but if you want a way better feel than do it. If you have a EX model than no need to upgrade.
A 4040 prop valve would be recommended, yes. And since you're replacing the prop valve, now would be a good time to decide whether or not you want to replace the booster and master cylinder because obviously you don't want to have to bleed your brakes twice.
Like stated, both EX and Si share the same 7/8" master cylinder, but if you have a DX or equivalent then I would say it would be a good idea to also upgrade.

Use 99-00 Si e-brake cables. If you have a DX you DO NOT need a prop valve at all, the 99-00 Si and the 96-00 DX share the same prop valve and BB. I would wait to upgrade the MC since you really don't need it until you get bigger front brakes.

any cable from a 92-00 civic or 94-01 integra with rear disk brakes will do (being that they are the same). as for the MC and BB, if you have a DX model, i would upgrade to a SI/EX one. if you time and money i upgraded to a 1" GSR MC and booster (i had to have custom stainless steel braided line made).
as for the prop valve, only 92-95 civic need this done so you are exempt here.
i would also recommend you replace you brake hoses with steel braided. well worth it!

I used a full GSR rear disc setup on my EK hatch, e-brake cables and all. It works fine you just have to squeeze them a bit. Like others said, don't need prop valve, don't need MC, and ya add SS lines if you can it's a simple addition.
BTW I wrote a howto on just this here:
