So like the title says i have a speech in my communications class tomorrow and my topic is on turbochargers/turbocharging. Now i need help comming up with main points to prove and since im not the most inclined on FI I'd figure why not ask H-T? So any ideas on main points on turbos?

1. They're a good way of increasing power w/o sacrificing weight

inreased power and torque without major sacrifices in gas mileage.

 

search some old archived stuff and you probably could write your report.

-Gas mileage
-different vehicles that have them-trucks
-needing lubrication
-fuel management
-how the internals work (bearings, ball-bearings etc)

Your paper is due tommorow and your just now starting it. Looks like Honda-tech has too much of your time.

1. Waste energy converted into more power which allows engines not only to run at a higher efficiency, but be smaller and create the same power

2. Since E85 is coming around now and is a higher octane fuel, turbocharging vehicles is more practical for manufacturers. Now this point can go a long way. You can talk about how the engine can run higher compression, direct injection and have a turbocharger with a higher octane fuel thus creating more power which would again allow for smaller, lighter, and inevitably cheaper engines. Your other point here could be that E85 is a product that the US could rely solely upon which would decrease the need for foreign oil sources.

3. I'm not sure what 3 would be...you could use point #2 as two separate points because that talk could last a while.

this was always my favorite arguement in favor of turbos
