Is it bad for my brake booster to have its vacuum line routed into my Golden Eagle vacuum manifold...?? I see tons of people do it, but nobody has ever mentioned if it was bad for the brake booster or not..?? Just curious cuz i cant find an answer... I unhooked my pcv valve an used that line from the I.M. to goto brake booster... Everythings been fine for about 5-6 months but like i said, just tryna find sum answers...

I don't see how it could be any worse than having it attached to your intake manifold, since that would be seeing just as much boost also if your car is FI.

 

Follow this....note the check valve on the vac line to the brake booster. Yes, it is bad to have boost to your brake booster. My buddy Zach's FC had no check valve and when he hit anti-lag, the brake pedal shot back at him and the car took off...not something you want to have happen. Even if something that extreme doesn't happen, you still risk rupturing the diaphragm in the brake booster itself.

 

As long as you have your check valve there youll be fine. Even if you dont the brake booster wont be damaged but your brakes will be super hard and the car will still not stop. Found this out after my dyno runs (498whp @ 20psi) when i took the car out for a run. Ended up being that my vac line was backwards (96-00 lines have check valves inside the hose, its great). I recommend using the 96-00 if you dont want a nasty looking valve there. Anyway i switched my line around and it works perfectly fine now.

Got any pics of the 96-00 valve..?? Is it like that much of a visual eyesore difference haha...

I still do have a check valve does this mean I should be fine..??

Cant really show you the valve for the 96-00 because its just a hose. Everything is internal. But heres a picture with the check valve and a picture with the 96-00 hose on.

Edit: As long as you have the check valve going the correct direction then youll be fine.

the check valve is inside the hose on a 96-00. squeeze the hose until you find a hard spot thats the check valve. If you don't have one, you probably should get one.

 

naaa, i have EG... my check valve is big bulky faded white connector on booster line, mines not internal like 96-00... i was just wonderin if how i had my vacuum manifold connected was gonna be fine but i've seen tons of pics with it same way so i think ill be ight... just never got the facts on if it was good/bad ya know..
