Default Power Steering Pump Installation

95 Accord EX

How hard is it to replace the PSP? or do I need to have a mechanic do it?

Is this like changing the timing belt difficulty or like changing the front engine mount without raising the car kinda thing?

Does the belt needed to be tighten to some degree or as long it is tight, there is an adjustment of some sort in there right?

Thanks

Belt just needs to be tight enough to remove the slack. There's an adjustment ****.

The only trick is draining and refilling the system.

Other than that it's just bolts.

no drain bolt. just use a turkey baster to remove the fluid from the reservoir. Then once everything is back together, you'll need to turn the steering wheel from lock to lock to bleed the PS system. Be sure to keep fluid in the reservoir as you are bleeding it, a helper is useful.

Yup today the PSP pulley broke and its a pain to turn the car, its so hard. Will there be a problem if I drive it like 50 miles and back or just fatigue on the the driver?

I'm trying to figure this out the belt. Does it have to be very tight and no play at all or a little bit of play in the belt?

Thanks

I believe there should be about 1/2" of flex in the belt at it's longest point between pulley's with moderate pressure being applied. As long as it's not overly tight and it's not loose enough to speak or squeal you should be fine.

In my situation the power steering pulley broke (crack) not the pump and since its to hard for me to find one or too expensive from Honda, I ended up getting the whole unit from the junk shop $100.
