How can I check for a bad dizzy ?

I need help on finding how to check a dizzy. And by the way the car wont start, thats the reason i want to check it.

check to see if you get a spark first. Oh and does the car crank and if it does pull a spark plug out connect it to the plug and place on the body of the the car and crank the motor to see if you get a spark and if you do then i might be some thing else like timing or not enough spark.
