Default 5th Gen - Vibration coming from front passenger side tire - RPM related - just replaced axles

2001 Prelude SH. My neighbor and I just replaced both front axles, rotors and brake pads. Everything went pretty well except the front right (passenger side) stabilizer link broke so we had to replace that. After replacing the axles I took the car for a ride and noticed a vibration coming from the front passenger side tire. At first I thought it was the stabilizer link and thought nothing of it. Well we've gone ahead and replaced the stabilizer link and the problem hasn't improved any.

The issue is that while accelerating, right around 3000 RPM up until ~4200 RPM, the front passenger side tire will vibrate. The vibration is also apparent while cruising at that RPM. We're pretty sure we tightened everything down properly but I haven't had a chance to double-check the work yet.

Does anyone have any feedback on what the problem may be? Should I have a balancing and alignment done since both axles were replaced? My neighbor claimed it doesn't need to be done but I've heard otherwise.

We had to remove the tire to install the replacement stabilizer link on the front passenger side. I'm 100% positive the lug nuts on the tire are tightened properly.

Any other ideas?

Are you sure you don't have faulty CV joints?

Are you sure the driveshaft was installed properly?

You do not need an alignment after an axel replacement only after new tires or any suspension change.

No it's not rare.

If you bought the axles from say autozone or a similar store, the chances are they are not balanced 100% They are cheap for a reason and will cause vibrations.

Try a quality brand like raxles.com or driveshaftshop.

Search a little and you will see this is a common problem.

rebuilds from the auto part stores often are NOT rebuilt, they are very often cleaned and repacked with grease, especially on the inner joint, which causes that funny vibration...

The axles were not remans, they were new but not OEM. The problem is that I bought them over a year ago and took a long time to actually install them. I don't have the original receipt but I'll try and get a different axle and then take back the old one with the receipt from the new one.

That's not good to hear that this is a common problem with axles. And yes, I got them at Advance Auto Parts.

Yeah i have a little vibration after converting my car to base model. The axles are fro autozone.

I thought it was my tires being out of balance so i went to work and rebalanced them and i still have a slight shake in the wheel. I guess i can deal with it for now but when it comes time to get new axles in def getting a better brand.

I went through the same thing once. Now I wll only buy Oem axles. It's worth the extra money to not have to worry about balance issues

Actually you can also get oem remans, made to honda specs.

Thanks for all of the feedback guys (and possibly gals). Advance said they would let me return the axle for a replacement. The manager of the local Advance store is a really cool guy and he said it wouldn't be a problem at all. All they had to do was verify the order which they did by looking up my telephone number.
