When VTEC engages, the engine shudders and has a very hard time accelerating.
Figuring it was a possible tune issue, I engaged the solenoid manually at 4k.
The engine immediately starts a dive in RPMs till it stalls to its death. The engine sounds good. The oil pressure is good. The Solenoid is engaging.
This is a fresh rebuild. The head was picked up off of Ebay. The rails and assembly are from my previous B16 that blew. They were used so that everything came off and went on in the exact order is should.

I can not figure out what is mechanically wrong with the setup. Almost as if one cam is engaging and the other is not.

Any ideas?

Full SK2 Valves, Springs, Retainers

70lbs plus/minus When VTEC is engaged.

ECU tune? Knock sensor?

 

have you tried cleaning or changing out the oil sensor thing next to the vtec soilinoid i cant think of the name right now

 

I thought it may be a tune, but I should still be able to engage VTEC manually. It should sound a bit odd and make no real power, but still run.
I have no Knock Sensor or Oil Sensor feedback.

Running an AEM EMS...it could care less

Even my tune logs didn't look to bad. Should have at least engaged and ran.

Pretty sure its a mechanical ghost of some sort...♠
