Default Foot well light

I picked up a Honda Access foot light kit. The instructions are in all kanji and even if I could read the kanji, I don't think they would provide much assistance since they consist of a crude drawing of a DC5 interior and an EP3 interior showing generally where the lights should go. However, the location of the lights in the pictures are impractical for my EP3 since I have those "beauty plates" above the foot wells to hide all the wires and whatnot. The lights are connected on one long set of wires with two wires at one end to be spliced?? into the harness somewhere down there so that it will work directly with the dome light. Anyone know what two wires it would be down there? Can anyone give any assistance at all? If someone can read kanji, I can post a pic of the instruction sheet for translation. Thanks.

It is supposed to look like this after the install: *crossing fingers*

you should be able to wire them indirectly to a switch and then power on their own circut just like you do with aftermarket fogs. Thats how I would do it.

anyone who can install an amp should be able to tell you how to do that. You just wont need heavy guage wires

Also do some searching as to how people wire in aftermarket fogs on other cars or for off road vehicles.

I am sure you can figure it out especially since the are low voltage. You could even just wire them to the same circuit as another 12v item in the cabin.

Check to see if there is power to the light in the glove box or splice into the glove box power before the switch that shuts if off when the door is closed.

I want them to work in sync with the dome light (i.e. stay on a little after the doors are closed, fade out, etc.)

You should be able to find that wire in the windsheild pillar on the driver side.

If I had my multimeter here at home I'd go out there and find out for you.

under the dash their should be a green wire that is part of the door open circuit. you can tap in to that and connect it to a relay, you just need a meter to test out which green wire it is.

also if some of you guys are interested in the courtesy lights you might be interested in the 08 honda accord ones. http://www.handa-accessories.com/accord08.html

Yeah, i dont like how they are green, and everything else is red. It might be neat around christmas time though.

But good luck on the install.

If it was red with the way the dash lights up in the DC5, it would definately be a nice touch if it was in sync with the dome light.

Well, I like the green light. However, if you don't, the green color comes from a rubber covering over the bulbs. You could scrape that off and find another color bulb slip cover.

Well, I found the spots to mount the lights. Done. Wiring run, done. I have two wires to splice into something; a white with blue stripe and a green (ground). Anyone have a wiring diagram to look up the dome light wire?

good find on that kit, i wonder if the lights are bulbs or LED's, the kit overall would be nice, then just tie in some neons to it (that way you're using more honda wires with clips than spliced wires). I wanted to get some red footwell lights in my EP as well, i'll be watching this topic to see how it turns out

This is a fantastic write up here on EPHATCH on how to do it. This guy has step by step instructions with pictures...

http://www.ephatch.com/forum/s...ge=11

I am doing it this week on my EP3 also but with amber LEDs to match the gauges instead of the (ricer) green. I'll post a write up on it too so we can have one on HT file.

Good luck. Post pics...
