Default harness obd version, need opinion

Alright so here's what I got:

1997 ek hatch (orig auto car)
2000 d16y8 swap
2000 ex motor harness
2000 ex ecu
2000 ex manual tranny

Situation:
I was under the assumption that this would be a direct swap........ until i got the motor swapped along with all the auto-to-manual conversion stuff done. I go to plug in the ecu so i can start the car...... and ........ you guessed it. I am missing a plug

from what I understand, I can do one of the following to fix this issue:
1. buy a obd2a harness..... change the dizzy
or
2. buy the jumper harness for obd2b-to-obd2a

help me understand pls, as I am terrible with wiring. I did search this issue... But again, I am not the best when it comes to wiring. Pls don't flame...... I did research, just cant understand fully. Thanks for the help.

so your 97 is obd 2a and the 2000 is obd2b.....my friend just did this swap and it was easier for him to get the right ecu for the obd he had than sell the other ecu outright....i didnt think you could go from obd2b-obd2a i thaught you could only go obd2a-obd2b.....correct me if im wrong but i have never seen a conversion harness like that..i also thaught that a auto ecu could be converted to a manual knowing that you could solder...if you can and it can be done than you could use the same ecu and convert it and have the same obd as u started with

Rywire sells a conversion harness for obd2b to obd2a.... Thats not my concern.

The ecu that i have is OBD2B as is the harness and motor. The problem is that the car is OBD2A which means that there is a plug that is missing from the harness that i have. From what i understand this plug is stationary in an OBD2B car, which is why it is missing from my 97... Any other ideas?

please help....... need to get this car on the road
